Description

In order to give cantons the option of taking the protection of floodplains of probable national importance into their own hands as quickly as possible, the Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape had a version of detailed vegetation mappings drawn up for the cantons showing all the objects to be reviewed. In the same way, vegetation maps were subsequently drawn up for the majority of the objects that were enlarged after the consultation process. A large number of these objects, as well as all of those newly included in the inventory as part of the second and third update and the 2007 revision (without alpine floodplains) were mapped with the help of photogrammetric infra-red aerial photographs according to the same system.
