Description
This is the source code for modeling preferential snowfall deposition and snowfall downscaling as described in: Helbig N., Mott R., Bühler Y., Le Toumelin L., Lehning M. (2024) Snowfall deposition in mountainous terrain: a statistical downscaling scheme from high-resolution model data on simulated topographies. Front. Earth Sci. 11, 1308269 (19 pp.). https://doi.org/10.3389/feart.2023.1308269 The code reads wind speed, wind direction, and snowfall values for each time step from the example file meteo.txt, as well as terrain elevations (DEM) from dem.txt. The snowfall value is then downscaled to the fine grid defined by the DEM and written to pref_dep.txt. The current version can be found in the WSL/SLF Gitlab repository: https://gitlabext.wsl.ch/snow-models/statistical-preferential-deposition-model
