Description
Some high-risk plant-based foods from certain third countries are subject to temporary increased controls when entering Switzerland. These are carried out by the BVS at Geneva or Zurich airport. Additionally, at a stipulated frequency official samples are taken from a randomly-selected proportion of imported consignments of plant-based food subject to temporary increases controls. The samples are tested in an accredited laboratory for chemical residues and pathogenic microorganisms. If the result of this test is non-compliant, an objection is issued and the affected consignment is disposed of. These data show which products are subject to more stringent checks and how often the results of official sampling lead to an objection.
