Description

This data set contains information on the number of minutes of relevant regional information broadcast by licensed commercial Swiss local radio stations during prime time (Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.). The data is based on the duration of the information content collected during prime time (average number of minutes per day). The data was collected by Publicom. Since 2020, licensed commercial broadcasters of local and regional radio and television programmes have been required to fulfill an information mandate, which is assessed on the basis of a quantitative minimum requirement. This requirement refers to the proportion of relevant local or regional information during prime time. Local radio stations with a public service mandate must broadcast at least 30 minutes of relevant regional information every day. Relevant topics include politics, business, society, culture, and sports. Regional information is information where, for example, the location of the event or the place of impact is within the coverage area. The analyses are based on randomly selected sample days that form an artificial week. This consists of seven weekdays (Monday to Sunday) spread throughout the year.
