Die Altstadt von Bern ist seit 1983 auf der Liste der Weltkulturgüter der UNESCO. Sie zeigt die über Jahrhunderte dokumentierte bauliche Entwicklung auf der Grundlage eines mittelalterlichen Stadtplans, der seine Gültigkeit bis heute bewahrt hat.
