Als Schutzwald werden jene Wälder bezeichnet, die Naturgefahren wie Schneerutsche, Steinschlag, Hangrutsche, Murgänge und Hochwasser verhindern oder zumindest reduzieren und damit Menschen oder erhebliche Sachwerte schützen.
